Gino Morandis

Gino Morandis (1915 - 1994) was active/lived in Italy.  Gino Morandis is known for Abstract painting.

Born in Venice, the artist studied under Vigilio Guidi at the academy there and moved, along with his teacher, to the Accademia Clementina in Bologna in 1935, where in addition to Guidi also Giorgio Monrandi was his teacher.

After initial involvement with color harmonies and still lives in the Cubist and Fauvist style, Morandis developed in the 1950s from influences of various informal art trends his own visual language in accordance to Lucio Fontana’s Movimiento spaziale, whose representatives he counted.

From the 1930s to the 1970s Morandi was represented at numerous Rome Quadriennales and Biennales in Venice, he also won numerous awards, as the Premio Michetti in 1962. (fea)
